Drive-In Date

Remember the old drive-in in Goleta? Yup, the one that has been closed for 19 years! Well, last night it reopened for a special fundrasier for Direct Relief International to benefit Haiti. The classic "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" was the featured film. I'd never gotten to go to a drive-in before it closed so Brian and I decided to make it a date. We grabbed some grub to go from the Chicken Ranch and rolled up in our mini-van. I highly suggest the mini-van for viewing a drive-in movie- the seats are so comfortable! It was such a great atmosphere at the drive-in. There were classic cars, lawn chairs, beer cozies, blankets, and parents waxing nostalgia with their kids.
Fun Fact: My Auntie Kris and Uncle Tim can be seen in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" in the opening scene when Ferris is watching MTV. (They were the couple on the MTV commercial!)

The Kids

The whole Claydon family (aka Team Claydon) came to town from Santa Cruz and we treated the kids (and ourselves) to dinner. Daniel had a crush on Trinity and loved spoon feeding her macaroni and cheese.

Tim, Brian, and the kids.
We love hanging out with the Claydons and wish we could see them more often.

Easter 2010

We had a busy Easter although you wouldn't be able to tell from the pictures below. I have always had difficulties remembering to take photos during events. I'm always too absorbed in the moment or having too much fun to take out my camera. Of course, I am always disappointed after the wedding, party, or vacation that I forgot to take photos. Since Daniel was born I have gotten much better, but my lack of Easter photos is a prime example of how I miss capturing the memories. Maybe I could dress Daniel up, boil and decorate some eggs and do a fake Easter photo shoot in my backyard? Nah.
Daniel, my mom and I went to the Easter service at UCSB's lagoon. We then had an Easter egg hunt in my parents' backyard. After Brian got home from work, we went to his parents for Easter dinner and had another Easter egg hunt in their living room. When the day was done, Daniel had received a total of four Easter baskets filled with goodies. He didn't even get his basket from his own parents yet! Just one of the many perks of being the only grandkid in town.
The photos are of Daniel checking out the Easter goods at my parents' house. I love that these are the same inflatable pink bunnies that my mom put out every Easter for me and my sister. Also below is a sweet photo of Daniel with Brian's grandpa. Daniel adores him and had so much trying to tickle him.

Egg hunt

Today Daniel and I went with my parents to an Easter egg hunt. Before the hunt, there were crafts for the kids and visits with the Easter bunny. It took Daniel a while to warm up to the festivities but as soon as he discovered the yummy chocolate hidden in the eggs he was doing just fine. To my disappointment, (but Brian's great relief, I am sure) Daniel's first sampling of Easter chocolate led to the staining of his new pink polo. Note to Brian: Don't worry honey, I'm going to find a violet polo for Daniel to wear next Easter!
