Gung Hay Fat Choy! Daniel celebrated the Chinese New Year with a special dinner at his grandparents. He received his first lee see (red envelopes) from Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Randy and Auntie Mary.

Babies for Obama!

YES WE CAN! Ashley and Daniel watched the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama with Grandma and Grandpa with a celebration breakfast of omelettes and mimosas/breastmilk. Only 17 1/2 more years until Daniel can vote!

Beach Day

Yesterday Daniel and Ashley spent a beautiful winter day at Goleta Beach with their mommy and baby friends. How blessed we are to live in this town where we can soak up the sunshine in January!

Swim Lesson

Daniel had his first baby swim lesson (a Christmas present from Grandma and Grandpa) last Wednesday evening. Brian was excited for Daniel to wear his first of what is bound to be many wetsuits. It's not clear who had more fun in the water- Daniel or Brian! Another added bonus to the evening swim class- Daniel slept like a log that night!

Butterflies, butterflies, everywhere!

Today we went out to Ellwood to see the monarch butterflies. They were so beautiful hanging from the trees in giant clusters and floating peacefully. We are so thankful that Ellwood Mesa was saved from being developed and hopefully Daniel will be able to enjoy coming out here for years to come.

Happy New Year, Baby!

Happy New Year 2009 from the new year's baby! Although we didn't stay up until midnight to ring in 2009, we had a great time visiting with old friends and playing guitar earlier in the evening. New Year's Day was relaxing spent taking a walk and playing board games. While we were immersed in a game, Ashley's mom made a cute sash for Daniel to wear as the New Year's Baby. 2008 was truly an amazing year for us and we look forward to all the good times the New Year brings us.
Some of our best memories from 2008 include:
-Discovering we were having a BOY!
-Vacation in Hawaii with Ashley's parents, Val and Jeff for Dede and Joe's wedding
-Ashley, Brian and Charley's mini-vacation at the beach house in Carpinteria
-Becoming an uncle and aunt to Ariana Rose Sanfelice!
-Preparing for Daniel (showers, pre-natal exercise classes, birth classes, decorating his room)
-Daniel's amazing birth (being able to deliver naturally and Ashley not yelling at Brian once!)
-Meeting our niece for the first time
-New baby and mommy friends
-Valerie and Jeff's incredible wedding (gaining an awesome brother-in-law)!
-All of Daniel's "firsts"- first smile, first laugh, first holidays, crawling, standing up...
-The love and support of our family and friends!!
